10:22 pm - NO INTERNET AT WORK - WAAAH!!

So today I had my mid-year review. It went well, my boss wants me to take on more projects and you know, business speak - step up to the next level. And just as I relaxed...he mentioned one more thing. My internet use. Apparently several people have commented (including others in our department) that I am on the internet quite a bit. I was like, what's quite a bit? I do go on but I'd say it's about half for work and honestly, yes half the time it is personal. I try to keep the personal ones short. And I never really shut down my internet. I open up a window in the morning - and I just generally leave it open so I don't have to go about doing it again when I need it. I do the same with my Windows applications and my Outlook. I am generall working non-stop on various different projects so to keep opening files or applications, whatever would be a pain.
Anyway, to get back to the Internet - my boss says it is mostly for appearances. Our department works harder than everybody else and he doesn't want people to be able to point a finger and say anybody is goofing off. Huh. With the work I get done, I don't really know how anybody could say that but I see his point. It just sucks for me - and now I am worried about legitimate internet usage. How the heck do they know when I am looking up information for work or for a donor or just goofing off? You can't know that - I never assume that about anyone I see on the internet. I don't know why I can't get the same courtesy.
Put this together with the problems with a pain-in-the-ass admin I had last week and I am not amused. I need a vacation. A long one away from my mother and this damn job.

Hello again! I am really not very chatty, am I? I shall have to fix that. Well, this evening I ran rampant through InsaneJournal friending several people I recognized from LJ and/or fics I enjoy. You shall soon know who you are.
But it is really late for me and I must get to bed - it's Monday tomorrow. Eugh.
